athenahealth
What is athenahealth? We’re the low-investment, high-return physician billing, practice management, and electronic health records service. We provide web-based software that lets you manage scheduling and billing; monitor productivity, utilization and cash flow; and better manage all major areas of your patient encounters – without costly set-up or upgrades. Our software connects to our real-time database of insurance and clinical rules. It’s a proprietary compilation of industry-trusted data sources and includes billing codes, pay-for-performance and formulary requirements and clinical guidelines and protocols. It even flags potential billing errors, so you can fix them before they cause problems. Database rules are embedded into your patient encounters, allowing you to access drug interaction alerts, drug allergy alerts, and information needed for reporting – while you’re in the same room with your patient. And it’s all constantly updated, both with new rules developed from claim denial trends and with current legislation and industry initiatives. We also provide back-office services, taking on your most time-consuming tasks like tracking claims, managing denials, posting EOBs and payments, and digitizing faxes. We build and maintain electronic connections for you – to labs, pharmacies, hospitals and medical imaging archive systems – at no additional charge. We route critical results directly to the appropriate doctor and flag ones that aren’t received when expected. All this, and we continually assess your practice’s performance and suggest improvements.
So that’s what we do. We help practices like yours work more efficiently. We get you paid faster and more fully. And we help you gain the time and insight you need to deliver better care and grow in the way you’ve always wanted. To find out more please contact us at 866.817.5738 or www.athenahealth.com. |

CAQH
CAQH is a nonprofit alliance of health plans and trade associations working to simplify healthcare administration for health plans and providers, resulting in a better care experience for patients and caregivers. A catalyst for healthcare industry collaboration, CAQH currently is helping streamline healthcare administration through its Committee on Operating Rules for Information Exchange (CORE™) and Universal Credentialing Datasource® (UCD) initiatives.
The organization launched CORE to create a national all-payer solution that gives providers access to consistent insurance information before or at the time of service using the electronic system of their choice for any patient or health plan. The organization has brought together more than 100 industry stakeholders to collaborate on a set of uniform business rules, built upon HIPAA and other national standards, to achieve that goal. More than 30 healthcare organizations, covering approximately 65 million or one-third of U.S. commercially insured lives, are now CAQH CORE Rules-certified.
CAQH implemented UCD in 2002 to enable providers and other health professionals – now totaling nearly 600,000 – in all 50 states and the District of Columbia to enter required information for credentialing and other purposes into a single, uniform online application. CAQH estimates that UCD has eliminated more than 2.75 million legacy credentialing applications to date, reducing provider administrative costs by nearly $89 million per year.
CAQH is pleased to partner with HIMSS in supporting the use of technology to improve the quality of healthcare in the United States.
